From the Kitchen to the Dark
Jocelyn Stebbins | MasterChef Season 16 | Team Europe
You might know me as Jocelyn Stebbins — the romance author (Finley Brown) who somehow ended up in Gordon Ramsay's kitchen on MasterChef Season 16.
Yes. That really happened.
I competed for an apron to be on Team Europe, representing Scotland, alongside some of the most talented home cooks I have ever met. I brought my whole self into that kitchen — passion, nerves, and apparently an inability to properly cook salmon.
But before I left that kitchen I did something nobody else did.
Joe Bastianich asked me to come up with a romance paragraph. About Gordon Ramsay. On the spot. While he was standing right in front of me judging my food.
So I did.
"I step forward and set my dish down, pulse racing, the air thick with heat and hope. Then Chef Gordon Ramsay approaches, shirt tight across his formidable chest, golden hair falling recklessly over piercing blue eyes. Silence fills the room. He tastes. I can already imagine him lifting the coveted white apron and slipping it over my neck. Will he be my hero forged in fire and cast iron?"
The room lost it. Gordon lost it. I stood there completely composed because I am a professional. (I was not composed.)
And then I went home and wrote a book.
The Perfect Pairing — a dark romantic thriller about a cooking competition on a remote island where not everyone makes it out alive — was born in that kitchen. Coming June 16, 2026. Because when life gives you Gordon Ramsay and raw salmon, you write a book about it.
Ten chefs were invited. Only one will survive.

When Gordan Ramsay is the hero of your story...
